It has excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures and good resistance to carburization. It can effectively resist sulfur-containing oxidizing atmospheres. It exhibits excellent mechanical properties both at room temperature and high temperatures, as well as good resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Due to the control of carbon content and grain size, Inconel 601 has a relatively high creep rupture strength. Therefore, Inconel 601 is recommended for use in applications above 500°C.
