Hastelloy C276
Hastelloy C276 is a nickel-based alloy consisting of nickel, molybdenum, chromium, iron, and tungsten, and it is one of the most corrosion-resistant materials in modern metals. It excels in resisting wet chlorine, various oxidative chlorides, chlorinated salt solutions, sulfuric acid, and oxidative salts, and also performs well in low and medium temperature hydrochloric acid environments. Over the past three decades, it has been widely used in harsh corrosive environments such as chemical processing, petrochemicals, flue gas desulfurization, pulp and paper, and environmental protection industries. In both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres, it demonstrates excellent resistance to most corrosive media, with outstanding performance against pitting, crevice, and stress corrosion. The high levels of molybdenum and chromium enable the alloy to resist chloride ion corrosion, while tungsten further enhances its corrosion resistance. Additionally, Hastelloy C-276 is among the few materials that can withstand moist chlorine gas, hypochlorite, and chlorous acid solutions, and it shows significant resistance to highly concentrated chloride salt solutions like ferric chloride and copper chloride. It is suitable for various concentrations of sulfuric acid solutions and is one of the few materials that can be used in hot concentrated sulfuric acid solutions. Microstructure: Face-centered cubic crystal structure. Application areas: It has been extensively applied in the chemical and petrochemical industries, such as in components and catalytic systems exposed to chlorinated organic compounds. This material is particularly suitable for high-temperature environments with impurities in inorganic and organic acids (such as formic acid and acetic acid) and seawater corrosion. Other application areas include the pulp and paper industry, such as digesters and bleach tanks, scrubbers in FGD systems, reheaters, steam fans, equipment and components operating in acidic gas environments, reactors for acetic acid and acidic products, sulfuric acid condensers, methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI), and the production and processing of impure phosphoric acid.
